Dr. DeSantis had a long standing career as an emergency and trauma room registered nurse until attaining her doctorate in clinical psychology from Adelphi University in 2004. She established the practice in 2006 to focus on both the clinical and forensic fields. In the clinical realm she specializes in mood disorders, relationship problems, couples counseling, post-traumatic stress, personality disorders, stressors unique to law enforcement personnel, and addictions of all types. On the forensic side she conducts psychological assessments, is certified in various testing and risk assessment measures, and provides therapy and/or sex offender specific treatment for those involved in the Criminal Justice System. Her approach to treatment is eclectic based and tailored to each individual’s needs to promote positive change.  DeSantis believes that people deserve to be treated without judgment no matter what their past or current issues are. People are NOT textbooks and do not fit into pre-constructed boxes or categories. Every person is unique and one person's needs and issues are not the same as someone else's.

John received his Mental Health Counseling Degree from Adelphi University. He is also a Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). John joined the practice in 2011 and has many years of experience working with all aspects of psychological distress, mood disorders, anxiety, relationships, domestic violence, addictions, and sex offense specific treatment. He assists clients to gain insight toward how stressors interact with the environment, personality, and behavior. Through achieving this understanding clients are able to implement the necessary tools to minimize symptoms and/or addictive behaviors. John believes that the effective therapy stems from a trusting relationship between the therapist and client and the clinical approach taken is dictated by each individual’s needs.

Samantha received her Mental Health Counseling degree from Long Island University. She is also a Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC).  Samantha’s expertise is working with many mental health diagnosis, personality disorders, mood disorders, substance abuse, other addictions, and with individuals involved in various legal systems. Sessions focus on building a trusting therapeutic relationship and then assisting clients to develop psychological tools that are needed to grow in all aspects of their life.

Christina received her Mental Health Counseling Degree at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and she is also a Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP).  Some of her specialties include anxiety, mood disorders, relationship issues, trauma, personality disorders, addictions, and sex offense specific treatment. Christina’s approach to treatment is using research based cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) techniques to assist clients who are motivated to reach their goals. She believes that when a client enters treatment they are functioning at the highest level they can at that moment and through therapy the client will make consistent positive progress until their ultimate goals are achieved.

Robert is a graduate of Stony Brook University and holds degrees in Computer Science and Sociology. He joined the practice in 2009 and his technological and programming expertise has been instrumental in all phases of administrative, billing, medical records management, and electronic communications between offices.
